Evarin Official Reference Sheet 2.0

I finally got around to whipping up another sketch ref for my Dutch Angel Dragon fursona character, Evarin! My previous reference for her, though alright, was just a quickie, and my sketch style has cleaned up since then. *u*

My biggest goal for this ref sheet was to portray her natural Dutch Angel Dragon species anatomy, so that even if an artist does not know what Dutch Angel Dragons are, s/he should be able to just reference from this one piece of artwork, instead of me linking several accurate feral DutchAD artworks, since at this time, the species is still in development, and the feral anatomy of DutchADs is still in the process of being drawn out by the archangel DutchAD admins. The main admin in charge of drawing up the species anatomy ref sheet let me use her WIPs to draw Evarin~! (: So this may also serve as a reference to Dutch Angel Dragon anatomy in general, as Evarin is the only one of my DutchAD characters who has normal, typical DutchAD anatomy. XD

There were a few changes from her last reference in her design:
*She specifically has an Arabian horse shaped head.
*Mouth/tongue/gums are darker and more purple than pink.
*Her irises turn to a dark, almost black navy blue, and cyan pupils glow fiercely when angered or in the heat of combat against a very deadly or malevolent foe.
*She now has thumbs, the better to pick up, carry, hoard and read my old textbooks with! Normally Dutch Angel Dragons are known for having only four toes and no thumbs, however in one of the Dutch Angel Dragon feral anatomy reference sketches by Ino89777 (who owns the species as its creator) herself, it was shown they can and sometimes do have thumbs! I confirmed this with archAngel Voodoo.
*She specifically has Seagull wing-shaped wings now.
*Her crest feathers are all a bit longer, though the same lengths in order as before.
*Like in her original adoption artwork by Dreamthlef, she now has long furred fetlocks on her hind feet.
*Her style of using fire magic is now official, in that she emits it from her forepaws and manipulates it with exclusive telekenesis, while her black forepaw pads glow cyan.
*The bottom pair of V markings on her neck now connect and create a W shaped marking.


Now for the information on the previous ref sheet's description~!

EDIT: Evarin is no longer a "fursona". She's her own character and OC. I ended up developing and fleshing her character out completely, but now she no longer fits me as a fursona. Because she is the only DutchAD of mine who actually has a normal/typical DutchAD face and feathered wings, she has a lot more flexibility to be accurately drawn in many different styles, whereas my characters Tatsumai, Sapphira, and Stardust simply don't work in some styles.

Lastly on the subject of the concept and creation of this character, her name "Evarin" is a reference to one of my very old usernames which brings back many memories and a piece of my life I treasured and loved. ^_^ It is simply the word for "Star" in the fictional "Ancient Language" in the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, and as I used to obsess over that series like mad (and still do love a LOT <3) I gave myself an Ancient Language username (Evarin Skulblaka -- skulblaka means Dragon (lit. scale flapper) in the language). XD

- inner ear fluff is very long, dark blue, and streaked with cyan
- has 8 dark blue, cya tipped head crest feathers. The first two are small, the next four are very long, and the last two are small
- has 5 blue feathers at the base of her tail. The first is medium sized, the next two are very long, and the last two are small
- right before her tail tuft, she has 2 pairs of symmetrical tail feathers. The first pair is slightly smaller than the second, which are very very long and stiff

HISTORY,
Priestess Shizuka the kitsune has been possessed by Evarin for most of her life without even knowing it, and she never noticed that their combined existence created the personality and life Shizuka has known about herself all along.
Only recently did she realize her life, accomplishments, and actions are not fully her own doing. But she's decided to continue allowing Evarin to possess her and live their lives together through Shizuka's body in the real, physical world, as she has no idea who she is without Evarin. They have sort of a relationship similar to Atem and Yugi Mutou.

Evarin first began possessing Shizuka almost from the day she hatched and imprinted on Shizuka. Her reasons for possessing Shizuka are simple; she wants to explore the physical world through Shizuka as her vessel. Evarin is a character living in a separate realm than the physical one humans are found on. Curiosity driven towards human society, but unable to enter the physical realm herself, she used spiritual possession to take over the body of another character living on Earth. For most of her and her vessel's life, she gently resided within her physical host without it noticing for the most part, using every opportunity to seek out knowledge in the host's school textbooks. She never fully took over the subject's mind and control, but would occasionally offer suggestions disguised as the host's own thoughts, which mysteriously compelled the human to read the back of her textbooks all the time. Eventually, her host did notice, and at first perceived the separate spirit in the host's mind as a malevolent demon, causing a brief period of chaos, shock and conflict in their story. But despite Evarin's rash and "just-do-it-because-I-want-to" reasoning for possessing her physical vessel in the first place, she never meant any harm in her innocent quest for knowledge, and soon her host understood that too, and they became more like two friendly souls living in one body.
